The fabric of memory
Cristina Bubba Zamora has spent more than a decade fighting the illegal traffic in Bolivian ceremonial weavings.
"Our history is written in the fabrics, to lose them is to lose our past.”
Her efforts in Bolivia and abroad to ensure the return of stolen textiles to the Andes earned her a Rolex Award for Enterprise in 1998 and brought worldwide attention to the illicit trade.
